People experience incredibly high rates of trauma prior to and because of their involvement in the criminal justice system. As a result, many professionals working in the justice system are beginning to implement a trauma-informed approach that guides behavioral health and criminal justice professionals to develop practices, services, and policies that promote recovery and avoid re-traumatization.
Both culture and individual risk and resilience factors influence how trauma is conceptualized and experienced. Because of this, an attitude of cultural humility should be utilized when developing trauma-informed responses.
This webinar will help criminal justice and behavioral health professionals promote recovery and safety by adopting a trauma-informed approach that aligns with an attitude of cultural humility. This webinar will feature a presentation from Policy Research Associates Inc. and a panel discussion with criminal justice and behavioral health leaders.
