Building Stress-Resilient Tribal Communities

The purpose of this webinar is to review stress factors, the toxic stress of poverty, the correlation between stress and alcohol and substance abuse, and the protective nature of community on stress resilience. Presenters will discuss the generational impact on stress resilience and explore the predictive quality of social and community support on building stress resilience and stress management and reduction strategies.

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the correlation between stress and alcohol and substance abuse.
  • Describe ritual as a stress reduction technique.
  • Explain predictive quality of social and community support on building stress resilience.
  • Identify strategies to manage stress both individually and as a community.
