FY21 Minnesota Coverdell

The Minnesota Office of Justice Programs (OJP) will administer the Coverdell formula grant for the state and manage subgrants with five accredited forensic science labs: the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), Hennepin County sheriff's Office (HCSO), Midwest Regional Forensic Lab (MRFL), the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD), and the St. Paul Police Department (SPPD). The BCA and MRFL projects are opioid-related as well as OJP administrative time administering those subgrants. The HCSO, MPD and SPPD grants are non-opioid. Funds will be used for lab equipment, supplies, and contracted services as well as travel and training for professional development of lab employees. All subgrantees will track the Coverdell performance measures of time to complete case analysis, reduction of backlog and training of lab staff.
