Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2021, $350,000)
The Hennepin County Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation, in collaboration with its program partners, will implement a child friendly visitation program at its Adult Corrections Facility (ACF), including the creation of policies and security protocols. This project will: (1) create and enhance a parenting program to educate incarcerated parents and support the families of incarcerated parents, (2) hire and train key staff by integrating the Model Practices for Parents in Prisons and Jails into routine operations, and (3) inform the capital project plan and design of the visitation facility by incorporating research and best practices.
