Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2021, $550,000)

The City of Carrollton Georgia proposes to expand and enhance the existing Carroll County Crisis Response Team, a co-responding, mobile crisis response unit that is dispatched by Carroll County 911 System, to effectively increase cooperative efforts by local law enforcement and first responding agencies in Carroll County and partner mental health agencies, Pathways Behavioral Health and Tanner Medical Systems- Willowbrooke at Tanner at 0-1 Sequential Intercepts points in the criminal justice system connect individuals with mental illness and co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse disorders and divert them from the criminal justice system.  The project will also utilize evidence-based practices, peer support models and early intervention strategies and supports to reduce recidivism rates in our community.
