Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2021, $599,999)

Dubois County's project will serve people in Dubois County, Indiana with substance use disorders/behavioral health issues who are in the criminal justice system or at risk of entering the system.  Dubois County is a rural area with fewer than 100,000 people, therefore is applying in category 1c.  This project targets Intercept 1, Law Enforcement; Intercept 4, Reentry; and Intercept 5, Community Corrections.  The following activities are incorporated:  1) Law enforcement/first responder diversion; 2) Post booking treatment alternative-to-incarceration programs for individuals at high risk for overdose or substance abuse; and 3) Recovery support services which includes transitional or recovery housing and peer recovery support services.   The project includes partnerships with the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office, Jasper Police Department, and Dubois County Community Corrections.
