Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2021, $899,280)

PDPHE would like to add an activity to gather wastewater data on substances present in Pueblo wastewater. This will provide unique, real-time, specific information on the increase or decrease of specific substances and treatment medications as well. This data can then be shared with community leaders and members in order to detect changes, spikes, new substances, and ultimately drive action for the betterment of the community. The new data will compliment the data already collected through this project and provide another way to understand local trends. This will help PDPHE achieve primary activities 1 and 2 and product deliverables 1 and 5 outlined in the contract. In order to accomplish this, PDPHE will contract with BioBot, an organization that manages collection of wastewater samples, analysis of the samples and will supply the data to PDPHE. The process for sample collection and analysis is covered and paid for by BioBot. PDPHE will use COSSUP funding to pay for the analysis of data collected, report out and creation of a dashboard for data to be shared with partners and the public for High Risk Substances and Substance Use Disorder Treatment. The data will be updated weekly and maintained through BioBot for the duration of the contract. The BioBot draft proposal also acknowledges the Data Ownership with the following statement: Data Ownership

Because Biobot is fully funding the cost of sample testing and analysis, BioBot will retain ownership of all samples and data processed via our lab. Our services will be governed by Biobot’s Wastewater Epidemiology Customer Terms & Conditions.
