Statewide Law Enforcement Reform Initiative

The Vermont Department of Public Safety will use this grant to improve statewide law enforcement data access, address racial disparity in policing, expand the use of body worn cameras, and implement multiple crisis intervention and de-escalation trainings.  The purpose of these projects is to increase public trust and transparency in Vermont law enforcement and reduce adverse interactions with the public.  The outcomes of these projects will be officers better trained on successful interventions for high-risk encounters, better data access regarding all encounters, and more widespread use of video recording for all encounters.
