Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $244,000)

Denver Police Department proposes to develop a full-time, social worker-focused response collaboration that builds on and enhances the work currently being supported within the police department and throughout the city. While our historic goals have included broader considerations involving vulnerable populations and those exposed to violence/trauma, this proposal includes a more specific concentration on providing access to appropriate services in the identified five hotspot crime locations. Outreach case coordinators will work to increase the number of connections to individuals for supportive community and public agencies across the City and County, similar to the current District-based case coordinators. The outreach case coordinators for this project will dedicated efforts to five hotspot locations throughout the City and County of Denver. The focused areas will be Colfax near Civic Center Park, Precinct 222 in Northeast Park Hill, Precinct 223 in East Colfax, Precincts 411 and 412 around Alameda and Federal Blvd., and Precinct 521 in Montbello.
