USAO/PSN: Yakima (WA) Police is a priority location for the Eastern District of Washington United States Attorney’s Office (USAO) and has actively participated in PSN since 2019.
Summary of Goals/Activities: The Yakima (WA) Police Department continues to prioritize gang and gun violence intervention strategies for the Yakima Valley. Over the last three years, YPD has formed four subcommittees to guide these priorities and build analytical capacity to support data-driven interventions. The funding requested for FY22 will assist the agency in continuing this effort and further implement regional coordination to address the trafficking of firearms and use of weapons in priority crime concerns (e.g., domestic violence, retaliatory gun violence). Routine subcommittee meetings and technical assistance support provided during this performance period will support the sustainability of efforts to address persistent problems with persons and places in the valley.
