Idaho 2022 PREA Reallocation Funds Program

The Idaho State Police (ISP) is the State Administering Agency (SAA) for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG), which is administered by the ISP Planning, Grants, and Research (PGR) department. PGR will also administer and pass through PREA reallocation funds. PGR will work closely with the Idaho PREA contacts at the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) and the Idaho Sheriffs’ Association (ISA) to continue work toward PREA compliance in Idaho jails and prisons.

In working toward PREA compliance, Idaho has determined that supervision and monitoring, training and inmate education remain top priorities, and will use PREA funds to continue efforts in these areas. The Idaho Department of Correction has identified camera improvements, trauma reduction programming and resident education as vital to assisting Idaho prison and community confinement facilities in becoming compliant and to maintain compliance with Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Standards.
