NAME:
Regents of the University of Idaho as State Administering Agency for the State of Idaho.
GOAL OF PROJECT:
In implementing the John R. Justice Grant (JRJG) program, the State of Idaho plans to alleviate some of the burden placed on prosecutors and public defenders and encourage them to continue to provide excellent service to our communities through award of grant funds for loan repayment.
STRATEGY TO BE USED:
The Regents of the University of Idaho (UI), as the state administering agency for the State of Idaho, will administer the state outreach program to notify all practicing attorneys of the implementation of the John R. Justice Grant program. Through an application process, beneficiaries will be selected for loan repayment by direct payment of the award to the institutions holding the qualifying loan. Beneficiaries will be selected based on a number of factors including timeliness of application, consideration of academic achievement, meritorious service, amount of qualifying loan debt, salary not to exceed $85,000, geographic location of worksite, and beneficiary’s ability to repay student loan.
