Purpose Area 3 Tribal Justice Systems (TJS) - Project Abstract

Purpose Area 1: The PA 3 Tribal Justice Systems (TJS) funding will enable the Pueblo of Zia Police Department (ZPD) to build the law enforcement infrastructure for police personnel. It will use the resources to hire one Dispatch Supervisor and two Dispatchers with oversight from the Chief of Police. A new computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system is planned using PA 1 COPS funding. The new CAD will increase local communication with tribal officers, conservation officers, tribal officials—Governor and Lieutenant Governor. Together with Police Dispatchers it will improve communication with outside law enforcement agencies such as the Sandoval County Sheriff's Office nearby tribal, town, and city police departments.

PA 3 BJA-TJS funding will support two ZPD Dispatchers attendance of the CTAS and BJA Orientation, which will increase capabilities to manage the grant, and learn reporting requirements.

Administrative tasks include purchasing and installing the Dispatch System and arranging logistics for Dispatchers to attend the CTAS and BJA-TJS orientation and training.

The Chief of Police and Dispatch Supervisor will collect monthly statistics, prepare reports, and submit them online to the JustGrants System.
