The 19th District Court Hybrid DWI/Drug Treatment Court in Dearborn, Michigan is overseen by Judge Gene Hunt ([email protected]; 313-943-4224) The HDDTC is seeking enhancement funding of $468,000 under Priority 1 (A) consideration (pg. 17, Attachment: Evaluation Plan for details on incorporation of Priority 1A efforts). If awarded, this grant will (1) enable services for up to fifty (50) participants by the end of FY 2025 (2) improve program equity, particularly for participants of traditionally underserved communities, (3) expand capacity and operations with an additional program FTE; (4) enhance participant treatment services, (5) develop responsiveness to data to improve effectiveness.

The 19th HDDTC provides a post-adjudication substance and alcohol use disorder recovery program for the target population as determined by the eligibility criteria, and the LS/CMI Risk Assessment. The HDDTC is a three-phase program that incorporates and emphasizes the NADCP Best Practice Standards and the National Drug Court Institute’s 10 Guiding Principles for DWI Courts. The HDDTC employs a holistic approach to treatment and support that focuses on recovery as a crucial component in reducing recidivism and increasing public safety. The program has been extremely successful since inception three years ago and, with proper funding and staffing, is prepared to increase capacity and enchance services for participants.
