Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $1,521,800)

The Jefferson County Commission is applying for funding in the amount of $1,521,800. This project serves Jefferson County, Alabama with a population of over 500,000 and is submitted under Subcategory 1a. The purpose of the project is to expand peer recovery services and evidence-based treatment, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT), to individuals at high-risk for overdose who are habitual offenders. The project addresses the allowable use of providing evidence-based substance use disorder treatment related to opioids, stimulants, and other illicit drugs, such as MAT, as well
as harm reduction activities and recovery support services (90% of the budget). The project includes a partnership with the University of Alabama (UAB) Department of Psychiatry - Substance Abuse Division. Priority considerations addressed in this application include 1(A). Page 12 provides documentation of the applicant's plan to respond to the priority consideration. This application also includes program evaluation which is identified as a priority consideration (10% of the budget).
