DC DOC Workforce Development – Improving Reentry Employment
Proposal Abstract
The District of Columbia Department of Corrections (DC DOC, Department) proposes to enhance the current workforce development program targeting DC DOC residents inside the facilities as well as those recently returning from DC DOC and Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) facilities. This will include developing a formal strategic plan for the expansion of DC DOC employment programming. It will also include the enhancement of supplies and equipment used to implement programming to connect participants to workforce development training and direct connection to business sector partners formally committed to hiring returning citizens participating in the DC DOC workforce development programming. If funded, the DC DOC will take six months to develop a formal strategic plan for expansion of the workforce development program, purchase equipment and supplies to support enhanced training and connection to employment, hire a social worker and C-Tech Education (CTE) instructor to help reduce current contract costs, and expand the current partnerships with business sector and community partners.
