Kent Intermediate School District (Kent ISD) is located in Kent County, Michigan, population of 657,974 residents. Kent ISD is a regional educational service agency that serves students in more than 300 schools, across 20 public school districts, 3 non-public districts, and public-school academies. This project will further support the development and resources provided to multidisciplinary behavioral threat assessment (BTA) teams in Kent ISD districts by adding an Intelligence Analyst (IA) position to the Kent ISD Safety and Security Department. Under the supervision of the Director of Security, the IA will lead efforts to review information to assist districts in conducting student threat assessments, investigate online threats, and coordinate with area law enforcement agencies. The goals of this initiative are to: 1) Increase services and training provided to multidisciplinary behavioral threat assessment (BTA) teams; 2) Increase the number of threat assessments conducted throughout Kent ISD constituent districts, standardize reporting and data collection processes; and 3) Assess Kent ISD constituent school district threat assessment team needs, providing coordination at a regional level across districts.
