Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $3,210,628)
Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration-Intergovernmental Services (DFA-IGS), the State Administering Agency (SAA) is proposing the following for FY2022-2023 Byrne SCIP funds:
Establish a State Crisis Intervention Advisory Board for meeting the requirements of the Byrne SCIP.
Work towards developing and implementing an Extreme Risk Protection Order Program (ERPO) that keep guns out of the hands of those who pose a threat to themselves or others. This will include trainings for those implementing ERPO programs and providing communication, education, and public awareness of ERPO.
Establish a collaborative effort with Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) to address state crisis intervention objectives through court proceedings as well as address intervention through a behavioral health perspective (specialized court-based programs and behavioral health deflection). Projects are to include online directory/dashboard; specialized training; and support specialty courts throughout the state.
Provide funding for law enforcement agencies to safely secure, store, track, and/or return relinquished guns.
