The Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants (OVSJG) is the State Administering Agency (SAA) for Byrne State Crisis Invention Program (SCIP) formula funding allocated to the District of Columbia (District). The mission of the Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants (OVSJG) is to develop, fund, and coordinate programs that improve public safety; enhance the administration of justice; and create systems of care for crime victims, youth, and their families in the District of Columbia. OVSJG provides grant funding to community-based organizations and District agencies. OVSJG in coordination of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) which will serve as the Crisis Intervention Advisory Board to finalize the proposed project goals objectives and assist with the sub-granting process.
OVSJG will work with CJCC, the SCIP Advisory Board, to fund non-profit and/or sister government agencies to develop and implement validated gun violence risk assessment tools and build upon existing assertive community treatment programs that provide case management, navigation programs to connect at risk individuals to crisis invention services. OVSJG and the SCIP Advisory Board will partnered with Choice Research Associates as a research partner who provides informative analysis of services offered by current OVSJG funded reentry programs to gather grant data and analyze the effectiveness of the crisis intervention program.
