Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $2,955,000)

The City of Henderson is developing a Mobile Crisis Intervention Unit to respond to and support residents impacted by behavioral health crises. Funding will expand co-responder crisis units that integrate law enforcement with behavioral health professionals to respond to crises involving behavioral health concerns to ensure safety, dignity, and connection to the appropriate level of care for persons in crisis. The intent of the project is to improve de-escalation strategies, increase diversion from emergency rooms and jails, enhance officer and citizen safety, and strengthen partnerships with the mental health system. By pairing these resources, staff can connect individuals to services and divert them from the criminal justice system and hospital emergency rooms.
