Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $2,049,000)

Applicant:  City of Henderson Police Department, NV

Project Title:  Eldorado Valley Regional Public Safety Training Facility

Requested Funding:  $2,046,800

Eldorado Valley Regional Public Safety Training Facility is a joint facility being constructed by the City of Henderson and the City of Boulder City.  This facility will provide multi-jurisdictional training facilities for Police Officers and Tactical Teams in the Las Vegas Valley.  Currently there are insufficient training facilities to train the men and women in law enforcement in our valley.  There are no E.V.O.C. tracks, range facilities, or regional training facilities in Southern Nevada resulting in most agencies being forced to train wherever they can, including paying for space at public ranges.

This project expands the facility through the purchasing of equipment and technology to provide reality-based training to enhance the performance of officers which will continue to build community trust in the knowledge, skills and abilities of the officers sworn to serve and protect the community.

Our goals/focus for this project:

Expand multijurisdictional training facility through technology.
Build a Training Village to train our Police Officer in proper response to critical calls for service.
Enhance use of-force training through interactive reality-based firearms simulator.

Our key/major deliverables:

Assemble a Training Village, use of-force simulator and range equipment.

To ensure the success of this project, an implementation timeline has been developed with projected milestones as well as identified tasks.  This grant opportunity will afford HPD the opportunity to provide necessary and required training to the public safety community, which in turn will result in more confident and safe communities.
