Project ECHO (Empowering Communities through Healing and Opportunities) is a community-based violence intervention program. This program recognizes that violence is often the result of unresolved trauma and lack of resources, and seeks to address these issues through community-based approaches. By providing trauma support, mental health counseling, and mentorship, Project ECHO offers life-changing opportunities for community members from the East Flatbush, Flatbush and neighboring communities who are deemed "at risk," enabling them to grow as individuals and acquire skills that will allow them to reach their full potential. Through this initiative, community members are equipped with the tools they need to combat poverty, unemployment, and poor mental health, ultimately reducing gun violence and creating safer, healthier communities.

Project ECHO is designed to empower local communities to take an active role in addressing the root causes of violence and promoting healing through evidence-based interventions. This project utilizes a multi-disciplinary approach that brings together subrecipients such as community members, healthcare professionals, social workers, law enforcement, and other stakeholders to address violence at the community level. By facilitating collaboration and communication between different sectors, this project provides comprehensive and effective solutions to the complex issue of violence. Overall, Project ECHO represents a promising approach to violence prevention that recognizes the importance of community empowerment and healing. Through this project, communities are given the tools and resources they need to address the root causes of violence and promote long-term stability and prosperity.

Project ECHO also offers victim services and street engagements. These services are an essential part of the program's community-based approach to violence prevention. By providing support to victims of violence and engaging with individuals who are at risk, the program will address the underlying issues that contribute to violence and promote healing and resilience within the community.  Through victim services, individuals can access resources such as legal assistance, medical care, and crisis intervention. Street engagements involve building relationships with at risk community members, with the aim of providing support, guidance, and mentorship. By engaging directly with community members, Project ECHO will build trust and establish connections that help to reduce violence and create safer communities. These services are additional tools demonstrating its commitment to serving the needs of the community in a comprehensive and compassionate way. By utilizing this approach, Project ECHO demonstrates its commitment to empowering communities and promoting positive change at the individual and community levels.
