The Town of Lexington Police Department proposes to implement the Police Department Technology Upgrade and Modernization Project. The purpose is to create a fully modernized police department and court room using the latest technology available to our departments which will then serve the public in the Town of Lexington. These technology upgrades will allow the Town of Lexington's Police Department to continue to be an outstanding partner to our sister agencies through multi-jurisdictional communication and generally having technology to allow for fully functional officers in the field. Additionally, by allowing for enhanced storage capacity for body cam data this project will ensure reliability, transparency, and redundancy of the vital data to promote effective law enforcement and criminal justice, public confidence in law enforcement, and safety of officers and the general public in South Carolina. The computer and radio equipment are vital to promote officer safety, swift and accurate call response and efficient data collection and storage for incident records, evidence management and statistical reporting and analysis, which combined will improve public safety, support South Carolina law enforcement officers, and save lives. The enhanced technology for the courts will promote transparency and public confidence in the criminal justice system, further benefiting the citizens, law enforcement and first responders in South Carolina.
