Project EQ

Mountain State Educational Services Cooperative (MSESC) proposes to implement State of West Virginia, Statewide Emotional Intelligence Training for Law Enforcement Officers. The purpose is to provide Emotional Intelligence training to every law enforcement officer in West Virginia (Congressional Districts WV-001 and WV-002).  The project activities will include emotional intelligence appraisal and emotional intelligence training for each officer.  Expected outcomes of the project will result in a decrease in the use of force incidents, a decrease in arrests, and a decrease in officer misconduct complaints. Municipal police departments, county sheriff departments, DNR, West Virginia State Police, college and university police departments, Fairmont State Police Academy, West Virginia State Police Academy basic probationary officers and cadets, and any other pre-approved state of West Virginia law enforcement certification agency are the intended beneficiaries of the project.
