The OSBI is a CALEA accredited law enforcement agency that performs many functions in order to fulfill its mission of ensuring the safety and security of the citizens of Oklahoma.  Established in 1925, the OSBI has a long history of service to state, local, tribal, and municipal law enforcement officers and prosecutors. The OSBI includes the State of Oklahoma’s ANAB accredited forensic laboratory system (Criminalistics Services Division) which houses the state DNA index system (SDIS) for Oklahoma. The OSBI CODIS Unit processes all offender and arrestee DNA samples collected in Oklahoma and dispositions hits for OSBI casework analysts in addition to CODIS hits from the other two accredited public/government DNA laboratories in the state.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), on behalf of the State of Oklahoma, requests funding under the BJA FY 2023 Competitive DNA Capacity Enhancement for Backlog Reduction (CEBR) Program to purchase and implement a new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Module specifically intended for the OSBI CODIS Unit to improve the capacity, quality, and efficiency of processing samples for entry into CODIS and administering CODIS Hits.
