Minnesota FY23 Coverdell Formula Grant

The state of Minnesota will administer four subgrants with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), Hennepin County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), the Midwest Regional Forensic Lab (MRFL) and the St. Paul Police Department (SPPD). BCA will purchase 27 ELISA drug screening kits and one-year service contracts for two TECAN Robots for the Drug Chemistry Section. HCSO will pay registration fees and travel expenses for lab staff to attend International Association for Identification (IAI), Association of Forensic Quality Assurance Managers (AFQAM), American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors (ASCLD), Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners (AFTE) and Midwest Directors, JT Users Group Bloodstain Pattern, Shooting Reconstruction, Minnesota Division of the International Association for Identification (MNIAI), Midwestern Association of Forensic Scientists (MAFS) training and meetings. MRFL will purchase a Shimadzu GC-2030 Dual FID and A06-6000 Autosampler for the Drug Chemistry Section. SPPD will purchase a Full Spectrum Color Imaging System (FSIS II) conversion which will upgrade the FSIS to FSIS II. The FSIS II is used for ultraviolet and infrared imaging when processing evidence items in the laboratory.
