Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $2,644,815)
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) proposes to allocate funds for Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Program (RSAT) services for prisoners in state and local correctional facilities, as well as community-based residential treatment facilities. Funding will be allocated through subawards to address the impact of substance abuse on the state’s population and aid in Florida’s ability to break the cycle of drugs and violence by reducing the demand for and use of illegal substances through addiction treatment.
Subaward activities may include, but are not limited to, utilizing RSAT funding for the expansion of opioid substance abuse treatment services for eligible participants in prisons, jails, and community-based residential treatment facilities. Funding may also be used for programs such as low intensity psycho-education, day/night treatment, high intensity residential therapeutic community programs, and treatment for co-occurring mental health/substance use disorders in adult and juvenile populations.
FDLE will allocate no less than 10% of its total funding amount for local county correction departments provided they exist, to fund the jail-based RSAT Program for offenders incarcerated in local facilities.
