PREA Reallocation Funds to Advance Compliance

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) is requesting to use the reallocated funds to activate and implement a PREA enhancement to the Strategic Offender Management System, a database program used by CDCR. This enhancement will help maintain PREA compliance, assist with audits and meet Federal and State reporting requirements. In addition, the PREA enhancement will automate tracking of all PREA investigations, collect data, and provide information and reports that will promote compliance with federal audits. The new PREA features in SOMS will help streamline PREA related cases and enhance CDCR’s approach to detecting and responding to allegations of sexual abuse and sexual harassments in the institutions.
