FY 2023 Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Reallocation Funds Program

Since the completion of the FY 2016 Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) award, state of Illinois facilities have been compliant with the PREA requirements. In calendar year 2021, the state was unable to timely audit its Pontiac facility because of COVID-19 policies causing the state to be unable to certify it was compliant. Utilizing the PREA FY22 and FY23 award, the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA) will issue subrecipient grant agreements with the Illinois Department of Corrections and the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice for the funding of PREA allowable uses that will allow the facilities to become PREA compliant.
