Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $63,999)

The New Mexico Department of Public Safety (NMDPS) will use the PREA Reallocation funds to implement a comprehensive PREA implementation project. The purpose of this project is to provide support in the approach to sexual abuse prevention and response across two secure juvenile correctional facilities and two reintegration centers within the state of New Mexico. The New Mexico Department of Public Safety’s Grants Management Bureau (GMB), as the State Administrating Agency (SAA) for the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) funds, supports the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department, Juvenile Justice Services Divisions, (CYFD JJS) overall goal to prevent sexual abuse in New Mexico’s juvenile facilities as represented by this proposal, and submits this application on their behalf. PREA Reallocation funding will be allocated 100% to the sub-grantee, CYFD JJS, to achieve the programmatic goals and objectives set forth in the program narrative below.
