City of Boynton Beach Police Department Sexual Assault Kit Initiative.

The City of Boynton Beach Police Department is seeking BJA funding via the National SAKI Competitive Grant Program, Purpose Area 2, to reexamine issues related to the handling of SAKs, as well as to develop and implement a methodology to improve the processing and preservation of quality DNA evidence and the provision of trauma-informed victim services.
If awarded, the funding from this grant will allow the Boynton Beach Police Department to provide continued investigation and prosecution of cold case sexual assaults through submission of previously unsubmitted SAKs to a laboratory for processing. In addition, funding will be used to enhance their evidence tracking through the purchase of radio frequency identification technology, which will help facilitate, standardize, and automate inventory and asset tracking of vital evidence.
