FY 2023 Body-worn Camera Policy and Implementation Program - San Francisco

The San Francisco Police Department proposes to implement the BWCPIP. The purpose is to expand
the department’s existing BWC program to its Community Police Service Aides in the City and
County of San Francisco. Project activities include purchasing 100 BWCs and related equipment.
Expected outcomes include enhanced mutual trust between officers and the community, increased
organizational efficiency, and maximized utilization of Community Police Service Aides to support
sworn members with non-emergency calls for service and administrative duties. Residents, visitors,
and community members in the City and County of San Francisco are the intended beneficiaries of the
project.
