Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $1,161,355)
Per Montana’s JAG strategic plan, all 2023 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) funds will be prioritized for multi-jurisdictional drug task forces who are required to engage in specific activities: drug enforcement, drug endangered children detection and referral, public education, and collaboration with other law enforcement and criminal justice agencies, throughout the entire state of Montana and often time other states through collaborative efforts.
Expected outcomes include aggressive and effective illegal drug detection, investigation, arrest and prosecution; law enforcement and public education; and detection and referral of drug endangered children; intended to help curb and deter drug trafficking within Montana.
Active investigations sometimes are tied to cases originating from out-of-state, but the intended service area is the entire state of Montana.
Beneficiaries include law enforcement, criminal justice agencies, businesses, and all citizens throughout Montana.
Continuing subrecipients are anticipated to be Eastern Montana Drug Task Force, Missouri River Drug Task Force, Northwest Montana Drug Task Force, Five Valleys Drug Task Force, Southwest Montana Drug Task Force, and Tri-Agency Task Force. If additional JAG funds become available, they may be designated to fund other evidence-based statewide projects under the JAG purpose areas, prioritized by the Board within Montana’s JAG strategic plan.
Prioritized JAG purpose areas include law enforcement programs: diversify JAG funds to support law enforcement activities; prosecution and courts programs: diversify JAG funds to support prosecution and court programs; and prevention and education programs: diversify JAG funds to support criminal justice-related prevention and education programs.
