This application is the State of North Carolina 2023 JAG Application.

The State of North Carolina 2023 Byrne-JAG application will be utilized to help address public safety and criminal justice issues in the State of North Carolina. This includes the continued support of the local and state law enforcement agencies. Coming out of the pandemic, all law enforcement agencies are facing severe staffing and needs shortages. The CJI Committee is dedicated in trying to support these agencies with some of their most basic equipment needs. These needs have proven historically to be a lifeline for many of these smaller departments and in many cases have even helped save lives.  The State Administering Agency is also looking to help support in the areas of mental health support, crisis intervention team support, statewide and national accreditation support, and larger state infrastructure support. These five collective funding priorities have been determined as the most important to address by the Governor, the Secretary of Public Safety, and the Commission and Committees themselves. 

It is with this baseline that the State of North Carolina submits this application for consideration.
