New York State FFY 2023 Byrne JAG Formula Application

Over the last several years, the Lead Applicant has demonstrated a strong commitment and made a concerted effort to meet the unique needs of all who come into contact with the criminal justice system, with an emphasis on programming, technical assistance and research support to prevent or reduce crime and violence through the use of Byrne JAG funding, when available. The Lead Applicant plans to enhance its current capacity through the implementation of community lead programs, support for law enforcement, and research and evaluation by utilizing funds administered under this grant. The improvement of service capacity and/or establishment of new services to address jurisdiction specific challenges will be accomplished through a collaborative partnership with counties, law enforcement agencies, and local community-based organizations across the state.

Expected outcomes of the grant include:
Identify the unique challenges and unmet needs of local jurisdictions, including law enforcement.  
Support the implementation of programs, technical assistance and/or research to address those identified unmet needs.
Support implementation of programs to reduce crime and violence within communities across the State.

Effective and informed programming can change the trajectory of the lives of people in a positive and meaningful way. Federal performance measures will be collected to measure attainment of project goals.
