Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $19,762)

The City of Danbury will use funds from the 2023 Edward Byrne Justice Administration grant to send three officers to the 2023 Officer Safety and Wellness conference in Louisville, KY in March of 2023.  JAG funds will be used to pay for travel expenses such as conference tuition, flight, lodging, and miscellaneous travel expenses such as rental vehicle and parking.
   In addition to the Officer Safety and Wellness conference the City of Danbury Police Department will use JAG funds to various equipment such as tables and pop up tents for community events, office equipment such as replacement chairs for offices in police headquarters and a stand-up computer work station.  JAG funds will also be used to equip the property and evidence room with metal liners which will help control cross contamination of stored evidence.  The police department also plans to use JAG funds to purchase replacement filters for evidence drying cabinets from the crime scene division.  JAG funds will be used to purchase department shoulder patches for uniform shirts for officers.  Funds will also be use renew K9 record software and also be used to purchase a new podium for the community room along with custom logos that will be applied to the outside. Lastly the remaining JAG funds will be used to purchase replacement picture frames to display photos of officers from the Danbury Police Department who were killed in the line of duty and are currently displayed in the department roll call room.
