Law Enforcement Overtime Program

The proposed use of the grant money by the City of Danville Police Department and the Vermilion County Sheriff's Department will be for overtime/supplemental patrols in high-crime areas and crime prevention/education. The patrols will also be in concert with other local and State partners, such as the Vermilion County Metropolitan Enforcement Group, led by the Illinois State Police in different instances. The patrols will also focus on combating violence, drug offenses, reducing gun violence, officer safety, and community policing. High-risk search warrant execution and dangerous drug undercover operations will also be supported by both agencies utilizing these funds. The extra patrols will ensure that community policing is substantial and work toward residents feeling safer in their homes.
