2023 South Bend Police Collaborative Technology Improvement for Officer Safety Program

The South Bend Police Department, in conjunction with the Mishawaka Police Department and Saint Joseph County Police Department as parts of a disparate jurisdiction, are applying for the 2023 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Annual Grant Formula Program: Local Solicitation in the amount of $168,324. It was agreed by all three departments that the funds would be distributed with each department based on FBI Crime Statistics/Population. It was also agreed that the City of South Bend/South Bend Police Department would be the administrator for this grant. Each agency will be responsible for tracking individual grant statistics in regard to funds used, equipment purchased, methodology and goals attained.  The generated information will be forwarded to the South Bend Police Department which will be in charge of grant reporting to the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, and Bureau of Justice Assistance.
