Hammond PD Radio Replacement

The Hammond Police Department is requesting $19,718.00 in Fiscal Year 2023 Justice Assistance Grant to purchase ten (10) 700/800-MHz, P25-compliant portable radios and accessories (e.g. speaker mics, extended batteries). Acquisition of the radios will enable the HPD to replace several of its older radios purchased shortly after Hurricane Katrina, that are no longer being supported by the manufacturer and for which parts are becoming increasing difficult to find. These radios are crucial to communication with other law enforcement officers and first responders. The purchase will better equip the HPD to react and respond quickly in emergent situations and thus fulfill its mission: to enhance the quality of life in the City of Hammond by working cooperatively with the public and within the framework of the U.S. Constitution, to enforce the laws of the State of Louisiana, and to provide the citizens of Hammond, Louisiana, a safe environment to work and live.
