FFY 2023 Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Program

The City of Salisbury is part of a disparate jurisdiction, along with Wicomico County, with a total joint allocation of $28,148. The Salisbury Police Department proposes to use the allocated funds to purchase a Sokkia IX-603 Total Station System. The Sokkia IX-603 Total Station is a precise laser method of mapping accident scenes and/or vehicle damage and is utilized in motor vehicle accident investigation and reconstruction. The system that the Salisbury Police Department intends to purchase includes the Sokkia IX-603 and accessories, training, and mapping software with maintenance and upgrades. Two police department officers have recently been trained and certified in motor vehicle accident investigation and reconstruction and two other officers are currently in training. The Sokkia IX-603 Total Station System is a necessary component for these officers to complete motor vehicle accident investigations and reconstructions.
