Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $37,306)
The disparate jurisdictions of the City of Rochester and Olmsted County will use JAG funds for supplies and equipment for their crime prevention and community engagement programs. The Rochester Police Department will use the funds to purchase a radar and message sign. The remainder will be used for crime prevention, community engagement, and trust building programs such as Safe City Nights, Night to Unite, Coffee with a Cop, and Cops and Kids Community bike program. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office will use the funds for crime prevention and community engagement programs such as Safe City Nights and Night to Unite. All items purchased with JAG funds will be used to promote public trust, engage with the community, prevent crime, and enhance transparency.
