Activities to reduce Part I Crimes and for Community Engagement, with a subgrant to Ramsey County

The largest portion of the requested JAG funds will be used by the City of Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) to cover overtime costs of personnel (sworn and civilian) working to reduce Part I crimes and expand community engagement. The city’s Office of Neighborhood Safety (ONS) will also receive funds to deploy violence interrupters, usually in tandem with SPPD personnel. Three Ramsey County agencies will receive funds: Community Corrections, for Electronic Home Monitoring; Attorney’s Office, for an investigator to help clear a caseload backlog; and Sherriff’s Office, for its Youth Plus Program.
