Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $239,824)

The disparate jurisdictions of Cumberland County Sheriff's Office and Fayetteville Police Department  will use JAG Funds for  technology upgrade improvement and equipment. Specifically, The county of Cumberland will use this for subscriber fee for aircard technology to communicate to and from the NCSBI databases, the state-wide warrants system, and the County Dispatch Center from the Deputy's Mbile Data Terminals in their vehicles. The County will also use funds for Ballistic Shields and Riot Gear. These items will help keep citizens and law enforcement officers safer. Multiple equipment items, such as, Trauma Kits, StopSticks, Breacher saw will also be purchased with these funds to increase operational efficiency and improve officer safety. The Fayetteville Police Department will use funds for safety equipment upgrades and replacement parts for the current gas masks. Additionally Fayetteville Police Department will utilize funding for rifle flashlight equipment, a breaching robot to reduce safety threats, breaching kits, velocity system back panels and a 28 day by cell phone charging locker for evidence extraction purposes.
