These funds will be used to purchase equipmet for agency personnel.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is seeking to utilize funds from this grant program to purchase portable fingerprint readers for deputies to use on duty for easier identification of persons who do not have proof of identification. We are also planning to purchase ammunition and simunition rounds that allow more scenario-based firearm trainings with deputies if ever they responded to an active shooter situation. During the award period we will purchase equipment to provide deputies a proactive approach in responding to incidents of this nature if they should ever occur and providing them with the tools in the field to decrease time spent on trying to identify an individual who is uncooperative when asked to identify themselves.
