Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $48,536)

The Florence County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) is  facing a crisis in the form of aging equipment, mainly MDTs. There is a dire need to replace 14 units. The FCSO is made up of 153 sworn deputies and provides law enforcement to the entirety of Florence County, an 804 square mile region with a population of 138,742 residents.

Goal 1 – To provide the FCSO with 13 MDTs.

Objective 1: Purchase of 14 units and required accessories.

Goal 2 – Install the equipment in the patrol vehicles.

Objective 2: Have units installed by certified contractor.

Goal 3 – Provide inventor control and maintenance of the equipment.

Objective 3: Assign a deputy to be responsible for maintaining all of this issued equipment to assure functionality of the system is greatly reduced if one element goes out of service.

 Outcome will be to purchase 14 Mobile Data Terminals that will meet the specifications of the agency and will combine several other pieces of equipment in to one unit.  Currently the FCSO issues each deputy with a lap top style MDT, handheld scanner to scan driver’s license and registration cards, a MiFi hot spot, mobile printer, two GPS units, and a mounting/charging station. Deliverables – having documentation of purchase, installation of and providing the Team with working equipment.
