Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $192,244)

The Chattanooga Police Department and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department will use the allotted $192,244 in funds to purchase much needed equipment. The Chattanooga Police Department will be expending $134,571 and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department will be expending $57,673.

The Chattanooga Police Department will be using its funds in Special OPS, Investigations, Neighborhood Policing, Community/Development and Professional Standards. This was decided by the Chief of Police based on priority to the department. Each item was consider as a need for the department but was not allowed in the FY24 Chattanooga Police Department Budget.

The equipment will allow the officers of the Chattanooga Police Department to give better service to the citizens of Chattanooga. Officers will continue their specialize/updated training. Once the funds are approved the department will proceed to expended the funds ASAP. The Chattanooga Police Department fully believes that the selected items will assist the Chattanooga Police Department Officers to provide the needed services that the citizens deserves while in Chattanooga.

The Hamilton County Sheriff Department has elected to purchase a mark cruiser. The cruiser will provide transportation for a deputy during shift work to answer calls for service and patrol neighborhoods. The cruiser will be purchased ASAP and put into service ASAP.
