Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $25,531)
The FY 23 local JAG award will be used for crime prevention education and programming through National Night Out, Coalition for Drug-Free Youth, and youth mentoring through the Aspire Mentoring Program. The Coalition will educate citizens on the importance of safely disposing used syringes at a local fire station and unused medication, especially opioids, in Prescription Drug Drop Boxes in two law enforcement buildings, leading to reduced accessibility of medicines potentially preventing overdoses. The Aspire Mentoring Program will provide trained, screened adult mentors to children/youth to serve as positive role models and deter youth from harmful activities.
