Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office JAG FY2023

Hidalgo County Sheriff Office aims to use FY23 JAG funds to purchase training equipment needed to better prepare our officers to the ever changing challenges faced on patrol. We plan on purchasing ALERT Training Kits and Negotiator Equipment Kits, both very specialized tools for high risk operations. Along with these tools we plan on purchasing ballistic helmets to adept to outfit as many officers as possible with this life saving gear. The HCSO will utilize all above mentioned items to better equip the Patrol Division which is the backbone of any police department.  Due to a nationwide increase of civil unrest the ballistic helmets will be another layer of personal protective equipment to prevent serious injury or death.   The ALERT training equipment and the Negotiator Kit will are vital tools to use to train our officers. The training will show our officers how to handle various dangerous situations, including Active Shootings and hostage negotiations.
