Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $12,311)
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office will use the JAG funds to purchase and deploy two computers to be used in the main office for deputies for report writing and various other record keeping within the performance of their official duties, one K-9 vehicle kennel and associated equipment (to include heat alarm and other safety features, to be used for the newest K-9 handler), 25 raincoats to be dispersed to road patrol units to keep themselves and their equipment dry and safe, 11 adjustable seat organizers to be deployed by road patrol units to keep equipment confined and secure as to not a safety hazard with loose equipment, three rechargeable battery towers and rechargeable batteries for duty flashlights to allow deputies to have fully charged batteries at the start of every shift to aid in their safety, nine safety simunition masks to provide deputies with proper PPE when training with simunition weapons, three adjustable tripods to be deployed with the sniper/observer team to better equipment them for the various terrain within the county, three range finders to be deployed with the sniper/observer team to better equipment them to identify appropriate rangers to maintain the highest level of observation and security, three camouflage shooting mats/blankets to deploy with the sniper/observer team to provide either a safe place to lay on the ground or a cover to assist in concealing their presence for their safety, and five laptops to be deployed by deputy sheriffs to act as computer aided dispatching and mobile data terminals while performing their duties within the communities.
