Delaware’s FY2023 John R. Justice Program

The Delaware Criminal Justice Council, in conjunction with the Delaware Department of Justice (DDOJ) and the Office of Defense Services (ODS) seeks to implement the FY2023 John R. Justice Loan Repayment Program in the State of Delaware. The CJC is the state administrative agency (SAA) for Delaware and is the fiscal agent for this program.

The goal is to assist the State of Delaware in retaining qualified state prosecutors and public defenders by assisting them with repayment and relieving the financial burden of law school loans. All full-time attorneys employed by the ODS and prosecutors employed by the DDOJ with caseloads of at least 75% criminal are eligible to apply.

A CJC Committee reviews applications and determines the awards. Appropriate documents must accompany each application. Proof of income, expenses, debt obligations and loan documentation are submitted by all applicants in order to be eligible to receive financial benefits through this Program. Benefits are awarded based on eligibility for the program and availability of funds. All eligible applicants receive an equal share of the passthrough and are required to meet all Service Agreement criteria.
